2020 Joint Rally with MVOAC

The Southeastern Michigan Airstream Club (SEMAC) and the Mohican Valley Ohio Airstream Club (MVOAC) held a Joint Rally in Kalamazoo, MI on August 20-23, 2020, at the Markin Glen County Park Campground.  Members from the Michigan Airstream Club and the Northern Ohio Virtual Airstream Club also joined us.  Fourteen rigs participated in the rally.

Markin Glen campground is an awesome venue!  It boasts 38 sites in a park like setting.  Each site has a large concrete pad, for parking & picnic tables, fire rings, full hook-ups, and privacy spacing. The campground is adjacent to the County Park, which has a beautiful lake for swimming and fishing, as well as a wide paved trail that winds around the lake.  Paved trails meander through forests to the Kalamazoo Nature Center close by.

Day activities included the Air Zoo (https://www.airzoo.org/) and the Gilmore Car Museum (https://www.gilmorecarmuseum.org/).  By all reports these venues were rated a “10” on a 1-10 scale.

An “open grill” and potluck meal were scheduled for Saturday evening.  New Pandemic protocols were put in place to ensure everyone’s safety.  Volunteer servers from each club donned face masks and gloves, before serving up the items brought by rally attendees, which were spaced out on a long row of tables.  Attendees were served as they proceeded down the serving line, then sat six feet apart to eat.

Several Region 4 (R4) Officers spoke to those in attendance.
• President, Karen Fisher, provided an update on the 2021 R4 Rally.
• 1st Vice President, Brad Briggs, updated us on the 2022 R4 Rally.
• Treasurer, Steve Rhodes.

The Joint Rally concept was a big hit!  There was talk of scheduling more joint rallies next year.  A big thank you to everyone who participated in the rally. It was fabulous to spend time with each of you!
